Description

The graduates of the Department of Mechanical Engineers have the necessary knowledge - skills to cover issues of energy and issues of mechanical structures and facilities. The field of Energy covers the cognitive subject of the energy systems - energy production, both from non-renewable and from renewable sources, the study and design of heating and cooling facilities, and the examination of environmental problems related to energy applications. The Constructions sector provides all knowledge and skills for the study - design and construction of mechanical accessories using compatible and composite materials.

Further Information

The programme objectives are the following:
- education and creation of executives for the provision of quality services with the purpose of resolving the modern problems of production and catering the needs of society;
- provision of knowledge for the optimum use of knowhow and of new technologies in the field of Mechanical Engineering;
- supporting medium-sized enterprises, by providing the necessary competent executives, who shall be able to cope with the rapidly progressing technology;
- research and development of innovative technologies for the satisfaction of the needs of production units.

The Department allows students to attend and specialise in one of the following two sectors of specialisation:
- In the field of Energy, they attend a cycle of courses relevant to Renewable Energy Sources, Energy Systems, the Protection and Management of the environment.
- In the field of Mechanical Structures and Installations, they follow a cycle of courses relevant to the design and study of modern Structures.

Relation To Employment

The Degree gives access to Postgraduate Studies, as per the Greek law.
The Degree also entitles its holder to engage professionally with the science of Technologist Mechanical Engineer, as per the Greek Law.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
