The subjects of the PSP are the following:
- analysis and diagnosis of urban space and environmental problems;
- social, environmental, and aesthetic intervention at micro/macro-level, such as neighbourhoods, quarters, communities, and peripheries;
- composition between scientific analysis and diagnosis of space and of the environment, as well as of the political and aesthetic interventions at the levels of society of citizens and of the state;
- creation of new theoretical models and methods of analysis for urban and environmental problems.
In addition, the PSP aims to the following: a) education of researchers and scientists with regard to the development of the competence of composing social and spatial / environmental phenomena, b) interdisciplinary investigation of modern urban / environmental problems with sociological, psychological, spatial and aesthetic methods, c) development of vigilance for social cohesion, of the environmental behaviour of the social capital through the application of interventional and clinical methods, d) education of executives for the management, the local government, and businesses regarding issues of urban space and the environment.
Relation To Employment
Holders of qualifications that belong to this type may work either as self-employed or in positions of responsibility in companies and organizations in the private or in the public sector.
Transitions
Access to this type of qualification have those who hold a Bachelor Degree (level 6). The selection of graduate students is mainly based on the following criteria: the overall grade of the Bachelor Degree, the grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant with the subjects of the Master’s program, the performance in thesis, where is foreseen at the undergraduate level and any research activity of the candidate. The detailed application of the above mentioned criteria, the definition of additional criteria or the conducting of examinations and interviews, the results of which are taken into account in the selection, are determined by decision of the relevant Department.
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 8.
