Knowledge and Understanding

Upon successful completion of the program students will be able to:
• Demonstrate broad knowledge in the field of Hydrocarbons Engineering;
• Become familiar with the content and philosophy of the legal framework of the industry of hydrocarbons, and understand the processes and factors that lead to its development;
• Understand the modern global, regional and local issues of Hydrocarbons Engineering;
• Acquire the skills and experience necessary for engineers who will lead in the areas of hydrocarbons extraction, processing, storage and exploitation, in efficient and clean energy technologies and rational use of energy;
• Develop a balanced perspective on safety and environmental concerns surrounding the industry of Hydrocarbons, offering students a wide range of understanding that will help in making managerial decisions;
• Possess the necessary knowledge and insight to be able to engage in decision-making roles in the industry of hydrocarbons;
• Have the ability to use cutting-edge software tools for technologies in the fields of Hydrocarbons and Petroleum Engineering;
• Are familiar with the procedures followed in the creation of energy, environmental and sustainable policies;
• Possess the knowledge base necessary so that they can be approved in professional chambers and associations;

• Plan the project network diagram, identify the critical path and apply the specialized project evaluation and review techniques (PERT) and critical path method (CPM).
• Recall specific resource management techniques and construct resource histogram (RAM).
• Use software to support the management of a project.
• Describe why the cost is important in project management and manage specialized Earned Value Management techniques (EVM).
• Implement optimization techniques to business problems.
• Implement quality analysis techniques to functions.
• Implement specialized techniques for resource scheduling and planning of the supply chain.

Further Information

The Postgraduate Program of the Department of Oil and Gas Technology combines a) administrative and oil industry management strategy issues (upstream and downstream) and b) modern Oil and Gas extraction technologies. It is aimed at graduates who want to acquire strong skills, innovative research papers and theses of excellence.
The structure of the Master's program is based on interdisciplinarity and integrates the demands and expectations of the market where the economy and the oil mechanics are intertwined and interact. The interdisciplinarity of the program is reflected in the teaching staff. Distinguished professors from all universities in Greece and abroad and internationally recognized experts in engineering cooperate in the program.
The main aims of the M.Sc. postgraduate program in Oil & Gas Technology are:

 Create scientists with specialized skills, making the specific difference for successful careers in the private, public and academic sectors.
 Preparation for postgraduate doctoral studies.

The program lasts three (3) semesters and consists of ten (10) courses (all compulsory). Each course corresponds to six (6) credits (ECTS) and is taught five (5) hours per week, while Thesis is equivalent to thirty (30) credits. The Master of Science degree is awarded after completion of ninety (90) credits.

Relation To Employment

Holders of qualifications that belong to this type may work either as self-employed or in positions of responsibility in companies and organizations in the private or in the public sector.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who hold a Bachelor Degree (level 6). The selection of graduate students is mainly based on the following criteria: the overall grade of the Bachelor Degree, the grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant with the subjects of the Master’s program, the performance in thesis, where is foreseen at the undergraduate level and any research activity of the candidate. The detailed application of the above mentioned criteria, the definition of additional criteria or the conducting of examinations and interviews, the results of which are taken into account in the selection, are determined by decision of the relevant Department.
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 8.
