Knowledge: Graduates shall have the theoretical and practical background related to the cognitive field of Agricultural Technology, as well as the respective profession of Technologist Agronomist with regard to every field related to this science and occupation.
Skills: The graduates shall be capable of engaging with the procedures contributing to the development of Agricultural Technology as a science and of Agricultural Production as a procedure.
Competences: Graduates shall be capable of properly applying the theoretical and practical knowledge that has been acquired during their studies with regard to every professional activity of the Technologist Agronomist.
Learning Outcomes: The graduates will acquire every knowledge required by their professional occupation as Technologist Agronomists, along with the necessary cognitive background in order to allow them having access to postgraduate studies.

Further Information

The mission of the Department is to teach and promote the science of Agricultural Technology, with emphasis on the acquisition of knowledge on modern farming technology. The studies are focused on a wide range of subjects of the Agricultural Science and Technology related to plant production and quality and safety of food of plant origin. The Department offers the necessary knowledge for the training of the graduates, in order for the latter to be able to work as entrepreneurs or be employed by state or private organisations of agricultural character. The curriculum of the Department includes compulsory core courses for all three directions (Plant Production, Greenhouse Cultivations and Floriculture, Food Quality and Safety), as well as of free selection courses. The studies last for eight semesters and include theoretical teaching, laboratory exercises (in the laboratory, in the greenhouse, in the field), seminars, training visits, and preparation of works. In the last semester, practical training is performed and a dissertation is prepared. The Department offers postgraduate courses (Master's Degree) in collaboration with foreign Universities and frequently the graduates continue with their studies (PhD), earning distinction in the scientific community. Moreover, the Department hosts programmes for doctoral theses in collaboration with foreign and domestic University Institutions.

Relation To Employment

According to Presidential Decree 109 Government Gazette 47/ΤΑ/10-2-89, the graduates of the Department of Technologist Agronomists, based on their specialized scientific and technical knowledge engage either on their own or in collaboration with other scientists with research in specific fields of the Agriculture Science and with the application of modern technology in the procedure of plant production.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
