Description

The learner is expected to acquire high level knowledge on cutting-edge issues of the sciences of Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering related to the productive procedures, the subjects related to them, as well as for the upgrading and advancement of research in this scientific field. Specifically, the graduates of the programme shall have a strong scientific background, skills and knowhow in the fields of automated systems, of the digitally controlled machine tools, in the applications of laser technology in productive processes, in the analysis and design of automated machines, in smart sensors and the applications thereof in the productive procedure, as well as in the robotic technology and its applications in the industry and services.

This is a single title, granted in common by the collaborating Departments.
The purpose of the programme is to prepare scientists who shall become executives for the productive procedure and public organisations, capable of introducing innovation in the organisation and productive procedure, contributing to the technological and financial development of the country. Graduates shall also be sufficiently prepared in order to continue to doctoral studies. This educational opportunity seeks to provide learners with knowledge concerning modern technologies and approaches for the automation and promotion of innovation in productive and other procedures, relevant to the industry, energy, agricultural production, the management of the environment and residences. As a postgraduate programme it also aims to the promotion of scientific knowledge through the promotion of research in relevant fields.
The following are the basic axes of the programme:
- Modern methods of product and structure design: 3D modelling and analysis systems using finite elements
- Modern methods for the development of prototypes: 3D printing
- Process systems with the help of automated machine tools: CAM/CNC
- Automated production systems: Design and control
- Industrial and advanced robotics
- Advanced sensor systems: Mechanical vision, laser-aided measurements, stochastic error diagnosis
- Design, simulation and development of embedded control systems.

Relation To Employment

Holders of qualifications that belong to this type may work either as self-employed or in positions of responsibility in companies and organizations in the private or in the public sector.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who hold a Bachelor Degree (level 6). The selection of graduate students is mainly based on the following criteria: the overall grade of the Bachelor Degree, the grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant with the subjects of the Master’s program, the performance in thesis, where is foreseen at the undergraduate level and any research activity of the candidate. The detailed application of the above mentioned criteria, the definition of additional criteria or the conducting of examinations and interviews, the results of which are taken into account in the selection, are determined by decision of the relevant Department.
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 8.
