Further Information

The duration of studies in the Department of Automotive Engineering is eight (8) semesters, as per the latest reformation of the Programme of Studies that has been applied since March 2010. The orientation of studies towards the application of scientific knowledge, with sufficient theoretical education, and laboratory and practical exercise, is reflected on the current Programme of Studies. The studies include theoretical teaching, laboratory exercises, practical exercises, group or personal coursework, dissertation, and the preparation of designs. Moreover, it includes educational visits to businesses manufacturing and repairing vehicles or separate parts of vehicles and mechanisms, such as engines, transmission systems, etc. The current curriculum was structured based on the workload for students, from which the ECTS credits have resulted for each course, i.e. strictly 30 units per semester. The Undergraduate Programme of Studies meets the objectives of the Department and society requirements at a significant rate. Nevertheless, this is the only Department of tertiary education in Greece, having as its sole field vehicles, training students who shall work in the automotive industry of the country. At the current phase, the Department's Programme of Studies is again at a revision phase, from a relevant 6-member committee, with the purpose, among others, its academic certification by ADIP (Authority for Quality Assurance in Higher Education).
