Description

Graduates of the Department of Civil Engineering of Technological Education of Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki attend during studies theoretical and laboratory courses, while conducting practical exercises, preparing a dissertation, and attend practical training in relevant businesses. To this end, they are able to understand and analyse the problems concerning the Construction of Technical Projects, the legislative provisions, the roles and duties of all stakeholders, while developing critical thinking and responsible scientific and professional conduct.
In addition, while exercising their profession, they apply on their own or in collaboration with other scientists and technologists, the design, research and application of technology and science on the following subject of their specialty:
Design, supervision and construction of technical projects, such as buildings, transport project, hydraulic projects, geotechnical projects, environmental projects, budgeting and costing, employee safety and others, issuing of expert reports, market research, auctions and tender procedures, computer software applications. etc.

Graduates of the Department of Civil Engineering of Technological Education of Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki may work in the following professional fields and activities:
a) Design, supervision, and construction of private and public Technical Works, such as construction, transportation, hydraulic, geotechnical, environmental design works or employee safety in constructions, and others, either on their own, depending on the level of their experience and the size of the work, or as members of organized design teams or firms or agencies of the public sector.
b) Organisation of technical works and undertaking of duties of competent safety technician at the work site during construction.
c) Organisation of laboratories and ability of collecting and analysing laboratory results in laboratories of their specialty, such as material strength and quality, soil mechanics, hydraulics and hydraulic works, wastewater treatment, for the protection of the environment, disposal of wastes, reinforced concrete, and others.
d) Application of the modern technology of computers to the above fields of their specialty.

This qualification is required for the exercise of the profession of Civil Engineer of Technological Education.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
