Knowledge: The learner is taught the principles, methods, techniques and systems consisting the background of the various agronomy cognitive subjects and delves into the design, operation, organisation, and improvement of farms and of the technical works for agricultural infrastructure, or into dealing with problems related to the utilization, design, and sustainability of water resources, while protecting the environment, or the study of soil resources and the relation thereof with agricultural production and environmental protection.
Skills: Applies knowledge in conventional, sustainable, and innovative farming environments and systems.
Competences: Designs, implements, manages, and undertakes the technical responsibility for the relevant systems.

Purpose and objectives: The design, operation, organisation and improvement of farms and of the relevant projects of agricultural infrastructure, dealing with problems related to the utilization, the design, and the sustainability of water resources, along with the protection of the environment, the study of the soil resources and the relation thereof to agricultural production and environmental protection. Representative segments of subjects taught: Irrigation, Drainage, Biosystems Engineering, Geology, Geomorphology, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Hydraulics, Water Resources Management, Soil Science, Greenhouses, Fertilizers, Fertilization, Mineralogy, Design of Agricultural Machinery, Agricultural Structures, Renewable Energy Systems, Remote Sensing, Surveying.

Relation To Employment

The title of studies is necessary to work as an Agronomist. The agronomists are registered in the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece (GEOTEE) and exercise their professional rights within the context of their specialisation cycle, as per the provisions of Presidential Decree 344/2000 "Exercise of the agronomist profession", article 8, 9 and the specific legal and regulatory clauses that are in effect.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
