Knowledge: Graduates acquire increased specialized knowledge on the cognitive domains of the programme, with regard to the latest scientific developments, acquire the basis for original and critical thinking by combining various cognitive sectors, and are capable of connecting research to professional activity, taking into consideration the theories and methodologies of their cognitive domain.
Skills: Graduates acquire skills with regard to the practical application of theories and methodologies, the critical and original application of the knowledge acquired on research, the analysis and evaluation of modern relevant subjects, as well as the documentation and resolution of composite problems with clarity, sufficiency, and precision, while taking into consideration the various application context thereof. In addition, they acquire skills for the collection and analysis of data, decision-making, the procedures of communication, the design of management programmes, as well as the management of teams.
Competences: The graduates develop competences at a high level and are capable of using them effectively, both in scientific and professional situations. Moreover, they are capable of using these competences for the formulation of strategies, decision making, as well as crisis management. In addition, the acquire competences for learning, setting objectives and priorities, managing time, and formulating and presenting reports using new technologies.

Further Information

The Master's Degree is provided by three Departments of the University of Macedonia: The Department of Business Administration, the Department of Accounting and Finance, and the Department of Economics.
The programme is addressed to executives of businesses and young graduates, aiming to attract candidates wishing either to transition either towards business administration or delve into relevant subjects that draw their interest during their undergraduate studies. For instance, graduates of Schools of Positive Sciences, Technical Universities, departments of Humanitarian Studies, Medical Schools and of other scientific branches select this programme to acquire knowledge and skills that will give them a significant push and better prospects for seeking employment, with the ulterior objective of future professional acknowledgement. This Programme is addressed to the graduates of Social and Financial Sciences wishing to expand their knowledge, delve into subjects that were presented to them during their undergraduate studies, or wishing to obtain significant experiences from the daily interactions with persons coming from different scientific branches and cognitive domains. In any case, the open character of the programme, with regard to the candidates accepted, does not serve as a disadvantage; on the contrary, international experience from respective MBA programmes has shown that this is of vital importance for the development of important aspects in every field of the scientific branch of business administration, the composition of proposals and views, and the improvement of the overall learning experience of the programme.

Relation To Employment

The graduates are capable of working either as self-employed, or in positions of responsibility in businesses and organisations in the private or public sector.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who hold a Bachelor Degree (level 6). The selection of graduate students is mainly based on the following criteria: the overall grade of the Bachelor Degree, the grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant with the subjects of the Master’s program, the performance in thesis, where is foreseen at the undergraduate level and any research activity of the candidate. The detailed application of the above mentioned criteria, the definition of additional criteria or the conducting of examinations and interviews, the results of which are taken into account in the selection, are determined by decision of the relevant Department.
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 8.
