The graduates of the programme are expected to: (1) to have increased specialized knowledge on the principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics, and on the methods of quantitative analyses, (2) evaluate, interpret, and apply without difficulty financial research and studies, and (3) resolve financial problems and take proper financial decision on their own.

Further Information

The Interdepartmental Master's Degree is provided by three Departments of the University of Macedonia: Department of Economics, Department of Business Administration and Department of Accounting and Finance.
The programme aims to the further specialisation of the scientific training of economists. Specifically, the objectives of the programme are the following: Advancement of knowledge over the financial subject, development of research in the relevant scientific fields, production of scientists capable of following the academic career and cover the needs at a postgraduate level for educated business executives in the private and public sector. The programme has two directions: (1) Direction of Economic Theory and Policy, and (2) Direction of Applied Economics and Finance. The programme consists of compulsory courses, elective courses, and dissertation.

Relation To Employment

Holders of qualifications that belong to this type may work either as self-employed or in positions of responsibility in companies and organizations in the private or in the public sector.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who hold a Bachelor Degree (level 6). The selection of graduate students is mainly based on the following criteria: the overall grade of the Bachelor Degree, the grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant with the subjects of the Master’s program, the performance in thesis, where is foreseen at the undergraduate level and any research activity of the candidate. The detailed application of the above mentioned criteria, the definition of additional criteria or the conducting of examinations and interviews, the results of which are taken into account in the selection, are determined by decision of the relevant Department.
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 8.
