The graduate of the Department has the following:

Knowledge:
- Describes the basic mathematical and physical concepts used in Engineering.
- Analyses the operation of circuits and microelectronic devices.
- Recognizes programming technologies.
- Identifies issues of architecture for computers, operating systems, databases, networks.
- Recognizes issues of processing of signal, image, automatic control systems, robotics.
- Describes environmental, tele-education technologies.

Skills:
- Plans microelectronic circuits and circuits with microcontrollers.
- Manufactures application programs in various programming languages.
- Manages computer systems, databases and networks.
- Plans and manages the operation of automatic control and robotics systems.
- Designs and manufactures Web applications.
- Uses Web applications and ensures network security.
- Maintains computer systems and network systems.

Capacities:
- Operates independent computer systems, computer networks, automatic control systems, telecommunications systems.
- Implements network and Web applications.
- Uses and applies algorithms to systems for industry, medicine, e-commerce, the environment, tele-education.

Further Information

The aim of the course is to train students with emphasis on the creation of appropriate infrastructure, so that they are able to adapt to the constantly changing field of scientific and technological developments. In addition, the program aims at fostering the skills that will allow them to respond to the rapid developments in the profession of Engineer of Electronic Computer Systems. Studies in Computer Systems Engineering Department of A.T.E.I. of Piraeus cover subjects related to Computer (PC) science and technology (Software - Hardware), as well as techniques of applications of Computer systems that support communication, industry, medicine, economy and education. The teaching subjects are: - Mathematics and Physics in Engineering - Electrical and microelectronic circuits - Computer Architecture - Computer networks, network security and online applications - Databases - Operating Systems - Programming - Telecommunication Systems - Signal and Image Processing - Automatic Control Systems, Mechatronics and Robotics - Environmental Technology - Artificial Intelligence - Tele-education.

Relation To Employment

The qualification has specific professional rights, which are described in Presidential Decree 345/1989 (Official Gazette 158/14-6-89/vol. Α).
Also, the qualification allows appointment in Secondary Education in Informatics specialty (U.E. 20).

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
