Description
The Integrated Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is awarded by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the School of Engineering at the University of the Peloponnese upon successful completion of a five-year programme of study comprising ten (10) academic semesters and 300 ECTS credits. The qualification integrates undergraduate and master's level studies into a single, unified academic programme without requiring completion of a separate postgraduate degree. In accordance with the applicable legislation, the qualification is classified at Level 7 of the Hellenic and European Qualifications Frameworks and certifies the acquisition of advanced scientific knowledge, specialised skills and high-level competences in the field of Mechanical Engineering, providing the academic and professional rights associated with the Diploma of Mechanical Engineer.
Relation to Employment
Graduates obtain the professional qualifications of Mechanical Engineers and are qualified for careers in the design, analysis, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical installations and industrial systems, energy production and management, renewable energy systems, environmental technologies, transportation systems, automation, manufacturing industries, research, innovation, and engineering consultancy in both the public and private sectors.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
Admission to the program requires a Secondary School Leaving Certificate (High School Diploma) and successful participation in national-level examinations.
Knowledge
Graduates possess knowledge of engineering and technology and apply scientific principles, techniques and procedures to the design and production of products and services. They have a sound background in applied mathematics, engineering design, mechanical engineering and physics, including fluid and solid mechanics. They understand electrical circuits, processors and computer systems, as well as production and processing methods, from raw materials and manufacturing processes to quality control and distribution. They also possess fundamental knowledge of management, economics and administration, including strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource modelling, production methods, leadership techniques and the coordination of people and resources.
Skills
Graduates apply engineering principles and mathematical methods to the design, analysis and solution of problems involving structures and processes. They evaluate the operation of machinery, production systems and facilities and develop or implement product and process control procedures. They design and implement manufacturing and production processes, organise and manage facilities and production or construction projects, and prepare techno-economic studies for mechanical engineering projects. They use design and computational tools to analyse mechanical systems and products and integrate emerging technologies into the development and production of innovative products and processes.
Competences
Graduates possess information-processing, inductive and critical-thinking, mathematical reasoning and evidence-based decision-making skills. They can coordinate teams, exercise leadership, develop creative solutions and identify problems and their potential impacts. They use modern digital tools for engineering design, programming, mathematical analysis, simulation, project management and computer-aided manufacturing. They are familiar with CAD/CAM software, programming languages and specialised applications for computational analysis and simulation, including fluid dynamics, transport phenomena, gas turbine operation and structural analysis. These technological and digital skills enable them to analyse engineering problems, support design processes and effectively use specialised computational tools in professional engineering practice.
