Description
The Integrated Master's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering is offered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the School of Engineering of the University of Ioannina. The programme provides comprehensive scientific education in computer science and engineering, computer hardware and software, computing systems, networks and communications, information systems and modern information technologies. Students acquire theoretical knowledge, laboratory and practical experience, and skills for the analysis, design and development of computing systems, software and applications.
Relation to Employment
The programme prepares Computer and Informatics Engineers for employment in software development, information and computing systems, networks and telecommunications, signal and image processing, web applications, research and development, and public and private organisations. Graduates are classified under the PE86 sector and register with the Technical Chamber of Greece as Electronic Engineers.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
Admission is carried out through the Panhellenic Examinations or transfer examinations, in accordance with the applicable legislation. To obtain the degree, students are required to successfully complete ten semesters of study and accumulate 300 ECTS credits. The programme leads to a single and undivided degree (Integrated Master).
Knowledge
Graduates of the Department, upon completion of the programme, are expected to:
•Possess comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental and applied areas of computer science and engineering.
•Understand the principles of operation and design of computer hardware and software, computing systems and networks.
•Have knowledge of methods for developing software, information systems, telecommunication applications and Internet services.
•Understand the principles of signal, image and audio processing, automation and modern computing applications.
•Have knowledge of contemporary technologies, tools and methods used in the research and development of computing systems.
Skills
Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:
•Apply scientific and engineering methods to solve complex computing and informatics problems.
•Use modern tools and methods for the design, development and evaluation of computing systems.
•Design and develop software, information systems, networks and Internet applications.
•Use cutting-edge tools and appropriate techniques in accordance with current developments in research and technology.
•Effectively communicate technical information and results, both in written and oral form.
