Description
The Integrated Master's Degree in Music Studies is offered by the Department of Music Studies of the School of Music and Audiovisual Arts at the Ionian University. The program provides comprehensive academic and artistic education in music theory and practice, covering fields such as music composition, music performance, musicology, music technology, and artistic research. Students acquire theoretical knowledge, artistic training, interpretative and creative skills, as well as experience in musical research and the application of contemporary musical practices. The program has a duration of five years, corresponds to three hundred (300) ECTS credits, and leads to the award of an Integrated Master's Degree in one of the following study tracks: Music Composition, Music Performance, or Music Science.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
Admission is through the national entrance examinations or qualifying (transfer) examinations, in accordance with the applicable legislation. The award of the degree requires the successful completion of ten semesters of study and the accumulation of 300 ECTS credits. The program leads to the award of an Integrated Master's Degree.
Knowledge
Graduates possess comprehensive and specialized knowledge in music theory, musical practice and music science. They develop an advanced understanding of composition, music performance, musicology, music history, Byzantine music, ethnomusicology, music aesthetics, music analysis, music pedagogy, psychology of music, music technology, electroacoustic applications, music research and contemporary digital technologies. Depending on their specialization, they acquire advanced knowledge in composition, performance or music science, while developing an interdisciplinary understanding of music in relation to the arts, education and culture.
Skills
Graduates are able to compose, perform and present musical works, analyse and evaluate musical creations, use contemporary music technologies and digital tools, design and implement artistic and research activities, organize musical ensembles and cultural productions, prepare academic work, apply research methodologies, collaborate effectively in artistic and interdisciplinary teams and implement pedagogical and teaching practices through the Department's Pedagogical and Teaching Competence programme.

Graduates are competent to pursue professional careers as composers, performers, musicologists, music educators, researchers, artists and professionals in cultural organizations. They are capable of undertaking complex artistic and scientific projects independently or collaboratively, managing music productions, designing and implementing educational and cultural programmes, applying innovative technologies and demonstrating creativity, critical thinking, academic integrity and professional responsibility. The programme leads to professional competence for musicians across a broad range of specializations.
