Description

The Integrated Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering is awarded by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the School of Engineering of the University of Thessaly and corresponds to a five-year course of study. The qualification provides comprehensive scientific and technological education in the fields of Computer Science, Circuits and Electronics, Telecommunications and Networks, and Energy.

The scientific field of the qualification covers Foundations and Applications of Computer Science, Software Technologies and Information Systems, Computer Hardware and Architecture, Signals, Telecommunications and Networks, and Energy. The programme combines theoretical foundations, technical and practical skills, laboratory training and opportunities for advanced study in specialised fields.


 

Relation to Employment

Graduates may pursue careers in private and public organisations and as self-employed professionals in fields related to electrical, electronic, computing and telecommunications projects and energy. They may also register with the Technical Chamber of Greece and the relevant professional registers. Professional rights are defined by Presidential Decree 99/2018.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities

Admission is through the national entrance examinations or qualifying (transfer) examinations, in accordance with the applicable legislation. The award of the degree requires the successful completion of ten semesters of study and the accumulation of 300 ECTS credits. The program leads to the award of an Integrated Master's Degree.

Knowledge

Graduates possess comprehensive theoretical and scientific knowledge in the main fields of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with emphasis on Computer Science, Software Technologies and Information Systems, Computer Hardware and Architecture, Signals, Telecommunications and Networks, and Energy.
They understand the fundamental principles underlying the design, development and evaluation of electrical, electronic and computing systems and possess knowledge of contemporary technological developments in the relevant scientific and professional fields.

Skills

Graduates are able to design, develop and evaluate electrical, electronic and computing systems. They can analyse complex computing problems using analytical methods and/or experimental arrangements, identify appropriate solutions and evaluate their suitability according to specific criteria and needs.
They also develop technical and practical skills for addressing technical issues, as well as communication and collaboration skills for working with different teams and professional specialisations.

Competences

Graduates are able to apply their knowledge and skills to address complex technological problems and to design and implement projects in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Telecommunications.
They can adapt to new technologies, activities and ideas, respond to rapid developments in science, participate in professional and academic activities, and develop innovative technological applications. They can also collaborate and communicate effectively with different audiences and assess the social, environmental and ethical implications of technology.
