Description
The Integrated Master's Degree in Agriculture is offered by the Department of Agriculture of the School of Agriculture of the University of Ioannina. The programme provides comprehensive scientific education in Agricultural Science, with emphasis on crop and animal production, soil sciences, plant protection, agricultural technology, natural resource management and sustainable agricultural development. Students acquire theoretical knowledge, laboratory experience and practical skills for scientific and professional activity in the agricultural and agri-food sectors.
Relation to Employment
The programme prepares Agricultural Scientists for employment in crop and animal production, agricultural development, natural resource management, agri-food production, private enterprises, public organisations and services, research and related agricultural activities. Graduates also have the opportunity to continue their studies at postgraduate and doctoral level.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
Admission is carried out through the Panhellenic Examinations or transfer examinations, in accordance with the applicable legislation. To obtain the degree, students are required to successfully complete ten semesters of study and accumulate 310 ECTS credits. The programme leads to a single and undivided degree (Integrated Master).
Knowledge
Graduates of the Department, upon completion of the programme, are expected to:
•Possess comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental and applied sciences of Agriculture.
•Understand the principles and modern methods of crop and animal production.
•Have knowledge of the biological, technological and environmental parameters of agricultural and livestock production.
•Understand the principles of rational agricultural management, sustainable development and environmental protection.
•Have knowledge of modern technologies and scientific methods applied in Agricultural Science.
Skills
Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:
•Apply scientific and technological methods in crop and animal production.
•Use modern techniques and tools for the rational management of agricultural and livestock systems.
•Evaluate production processes and propose solutions based on sustainability and environmental protection.
•Design and implement agricultural interventions based on scientific data.
•Analyse and use data to support production and agricultural development.
