Description
The Integrated Master's Degree in Music Studies is offered by the Department of Music Studies of the School of Music Studies of the University of Ioannina. The programme provides comprehensive scientific and artistic education in musicology and musical practice, combining music theory and history with musical performance, oral musical traditions, music creation, anthropology and cultural studies. Students acquire theoretical knowledge, practical and artistic experience, and skills for the study, performance, creation and research of music.
Relation to Employment
The programme prepares graduates for careers in music performance and creation, musicology and music education, cultural management, and organisations and institutions active in the fields of music and culture. The compulsory internship may be undertaken at music education institutions, cultural organisations, archives and libraries, publishing and record companies, and media organisations. Graduates may also continue their studies at postgraduate and doctoral level.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
Admission is carried out through the Panhellenic Examinations or transfer examinations, in accordance with the applicable legislation. To obtain the degree, students are required to successfully complete ten semesters of study and accumulate 300 ECTS credits. The programme leads to a single and undivided degree (Integrated Master).

Graduates of the Department, upon completion of the programme, are expected to:
•Possess specialised and broad knowledge in scientific and artistic areas related to music.
•Understand fundamental and contemporary approaches to musicology, musical practice and music creation.
•Have knowledge of different historical, cultural and aesthetic expressions of music.
•Understand the principles of music education and the transmission of musical knowledge and skills.
•Have knowledge of research methods and the production of new knowledge in musical and interdisciplinary fields.

Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:
