Description

The Department provides comprehensive scientific education in the field of Animal Science and related disciplines, with emphasis on genetics, animal nutrition, physiology, molecular biology, technology, animal health, biotechnology in animal production, ethology, and the management of animals, livestock production units, and aquaculture units. The Study Programme has a duration of ten (10) academic semesters and corresponds to 300 ECTS credits. It includes foundation courses, agricultural science courses, specialised courses, laboratory education, practical training, and the preparation of a diploma thesis. The qualification provides graduates with scientific knowledge and skills for understanding, designing, and managing modern animal production systems based on the principles of biology, technology, and economics.

Relation to Employment

Graduates may work in livestock farms, animal production enterprises, aquaculture units, feed industries, agricultural product control and certification organisations, research institutions, and services related to agricultural development and animal resource management.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities

Admission to the program requires a Secondary School Leaving Certificate (High School Diploma) and successful participation in national-level examinations.
