Description
The Undergraduate Study Programme is a five-year programme (300 ECTS) leading to an Integrated Master's Degree. It provides comprehensive education in architectural design, urban and spatial planning, history and theory of architecture, cultural heritage conservation, building technology, bioclimatic design and digital design technologies. The curriculum includes theoretical and studio-based education, architectural design studios and a diploma thesis.
Relation to Employment
Graduates acquire the professional rights of Architects and may work in architectural design, urban and regional planning, restoration and conservation of monuments, interior architecture, environmental and bioclimatic design, construction project management, public administration, research and higher education.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
Admission is based on the Panhellenic Examinations or placement exams in accordance with current legislation. To be awarded the degree, students must successfully
complete ten semesters of study and earn 300 credit units (ECTS). The program leads to a single, uninterrupted degree (Integrated
Master’s).
Knowledge
Graduates possess comprehensive and specialized knowledge in architectural design, urban and spatial planning, history and theory of architecture, art history, conservation of architectural heritage, building technology, bioclimatic and energy-efficient design, digital design and representation technologies, as well as the humanities, social and technical dimensions of the built environment. They understand the relationship between architecture, the city, landscape, culture and the environment, together with the principles of sustainable design.
Skills
Graduates are able to prepare architectural projects at different scales, develop and represent architectural proposals using conventional and digital tools, employ design and modelling technologies, design buildings and public spaces according to functional, aesthetic, environmental and construction criteria, collaborate with other engineering disciplines and apply research and analytical methods to solve complex architectural and urban planning problems.
Competences
Graduates are competent to undertake, independently or within multidisciplinary teams, the design, supervision and management of architectural projects, urban interventions and heritage conservation projects. They are capable of integrating technological, social, environmental and cultural parameters into the design process, evaluating complex issues of the built environment, conducting scientific research and demonstrating creativity, critical thinking, professional ethics and responsibility towards society and the environment.
