Description

The Integrated Master's Degree of the Department of Agriculture – Agrotechnology is a five-year programme comprising ten academic semesters and corresponding to Level 7 of the National and European Qualifications Frameworks. The programme comprises 300 ECTS credits and includes practical training and a diploma thesis.The programme combines agricultural science with Agrotechnology and focuses on technologies and digital applications for the rational management and control of natural resources, including soil, water and energy, as well as irrigation, agricultural structures and agricultural machinery.Key areas of study include crop production systems, agricultural engineering, agricultural and greenhouse structures, soil resources, irrigation, food technology, and technologies for the preservation and processing of agricultural products. The programme also incorporates modern digital technologies in agriculture, including Geographic Information Systems, artificial intelligence, sensors, automation, precision agriculture and agricultural robotics.

Relation to Employment

The Integrated Master's Degree provides scientific and technological training for activities related to agricultural production and Agrotechnology. Indicative professional fields identified in the official Study Guide include crop development and management, production and marketing of agricultural products, agricultural product protection, agricultural supplies and propagation material.

Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities

Admission to the Programme requires a Unified High School Diploma and a high score in the National Higher Education Entrance Examinations. Following completion of the qualification, graduates may continue to postgraduate studies in Greece or abroad.

Knowledge

Upon completion of the studies, the graduate possesses knowledge in the fundamental and specialised fields of Agriculture and Agrotechnology, with emphasis on crop production systems, soil resources, irrigation, agricultural engineering, agricultural and greenhouse structures, agricultural product processing and preservation, and digital technologies in agriculture.

Skills

The graduate is able to apply agricultural and agrotechnological knowledge for the rational management of natural resources and the optimisation of agricultural production. The graduate can use precision agriculture technologies, Geographic Information Systems, sensors and automation and apply technological solutions in agricultural production, irrigation, agricultural machinery and agricultural product processing.

Competences

The graduate is able to adapt to new situations, make decisions, work independently and in teams, and apply creative and inductive thinking. The programme also develops the ability to design and implement technological solutions in Agrotechnology, with respect for the natural environment and with a focus on sustainable agricultural production.
