Description
The Integrated Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering is offered by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering of the School of Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia. The programme provides comprehensive scientific and technological education in electrical energy, electronics, automatic control systems, telecommunications, networks, computers and information systems. Students acquire theoretical knowledge, laboratory experience and practical skills for the design, analysis, development and application of electrical, electronic and computer systems.
Relation to Employment
The programme prepares Electrical Engineers and Computer Engineers for employment in energy, electronics, telecommunications and networks, computer and information systems, as well as research and development. It also provides opportunities for postgraduate and doctoral studies. Practical training is also available as part of the programme and carries 15 ECTS credits.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
Admission is carried out through the Panhellenic Examinations or transfer examinations, in accordance with the applicable legislation. To obtain the degree, students are required to successfully complete ten semesters of study and accumulate 300 ECTS credits. The programme leads to a single and undivided degree (Integrated Master).
Knowledge
Upon completion of the programme, graduates are expected to:
• Have comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental and applied sciences of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering.
• Understand the principles of electrical energy, electrical circuits, electronics, control systems and telecommunications.
• Have knowledge of computer systems, networks, programming and information systems.
• Possess specialised knowledge in Energy, Telecommunications and Networks, and Computers and Electronics.
• Be familiar with methods of analysis, design, modelling and evaluation of electrical, electronic and computer systems.
Skills
Upon completion of their studies, students will be able to:
• Apply scientific and engineering methods to analyse and solve problems in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering.
• Design and analyse electrical, electronic, energy, telecommunications and computer systems.
• Use computational, laboratory and technical tools for the development and evaluation of engineering applications.
• Analyse data and apply technologies related to programming, networks, communications and computer systems.
• Collaborate effectively in technical and multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical information.
