Description

Upon completing their undergraduate studies, the graduates of the Department of Agricultural Technology acquire the necessary technological and scientific knowledge, skills, and competences in every field of Plant and Animal Production, of Floriculture - Landscape Architecture, with the purpose of being able to work in any of the fields of the Department's cognitive subject, either on their own or as executives in businesses.

The Department of Agriculture Technologists aims to advance the development and dissemination of knowledge about the technology and science of plant production, animal production, and floriculture - landscape architecture. The curriculum of the Department covers the entire spectrum of Biological sciences and of Agricultural Science, and it is divided into three directions: a) plant production, b) animal production, and c) floriculture - landscape architecture.
- Plant production: its mission is to provide students with theoretical and applied - practical education over the entire range of the Agricultural Sciences related to Plant Production, such as organisation and management of farms - the organisation of production, the post-collective treatment of plant products (standardisation, preservation, certification, and quality control), the concentration, distribution and marketing of plant products, etc.
- Animal Production: This covers the cognitive subject of the Animal Science and of relevant branches, focused on the application of modern technological methods for the rearing, nutrition, improvement, breeding, and health of farm animals, companion animals, exotic animals, and laboratory animals. In addition, it develops the scientific fields related to the production, processing, quality and safety of foods of animal origin.
- Floriculture - landscape architecture: This aims to the education of technologist - agronomists, who shall be specialised both on productive floriculture and secondly to gardening and on the applications of floriculture in landscape architecture.

Relation To Employment

The graduate of the Department of Agricultural Technologists is entitled to conduct the following:
- marketing of veterinary medicines, hormones, vitamins, and other biological products related to Animal Production;
- marketing of agricultural medicines, hormones, vitamins, and other biological products related to Plant Production.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
