Description

Upon completing their undergraduate studies, the graduates of the Department have the necessary scientific and technological knowledge, skills, and competences regarding the cognitive subject of Greek folk and traditional music, with the purpose of being able to work in the Cultural and Music Lower and Upper Secondary Schools, in conservatories and music schools of any kind and in special programmes of music education in the primary and secondary education of the country.

Further Information

The basic purpose of the Department of Traditional Music is the enhancement and promotion of musicology education focused on Greek music tradition. The undergraduate programme of studies is an innovative programme, which incorporates workshops of music practice in every field of the cognitive subjects of the Department, such as:
- cognitive subject: "Greek folk and traditional music";
- cognitive subject: "manufacture and maintenance of folk musical instruments";
- teaching Greek dances.

Relation To Employment

The graduate of the Department of Folk and Traditional Music is entitled to teach the profession of musician or Maintainer - Manufacturer of Instruments and teach courses falling into his/her specialisation in the Music Schools of Secondary Education (field University Education 16.02).

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
