Description

Upon completing their undergraduate studies, the graduates of the Department of Fisheries and Aquacultures acquire the necessary technological and scientific knowledge, skills, and competences in the fields of fisheries and aquacultures, and become aware of the relation thereof with the environment, with the purpose of being able to work in any of the fields of the Department's cognitive subject, either on their own or as executives in businesses.

The Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology aims to promote the development and dissemination of knowledge regarding the technology and the science of production of aquatic organisms in various cultivating systems and collective fishing, within the context of the environmental legislation and ethics.
The content of studies of the Department covers the entire scope of Biological sciences and other sciences, and refers to biology, ecology, the management of fisheries, the technologies and infrastructures, the cultivation of aquatic organisms, the production systems, processing, marketing, and the relevant legislation.

Relation To Employment

The graduate of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology is capable of conducting the following activities:
- Head of production for aquacultures.
- Marketing of fisheries products and equipment.
- Preparation of feasibility studies and supervision of designs over relevant constructions.
- Becoming a member of relevant organisations.
- Becoming a professor in Secondary Education.
The above constitute vocational rights of the graduate Technologist Ichthyologist as per Presidential Decree 109/89 no.5 (Government Gazette 47 Α/89).

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
