Description

Following the completion of their studies, the graduates of the Department of Business Administration with direction in Project Management acquire, apart from their core knowledge, competences, and skills on Business Administration, the necessary scientific and technological knowledge and competences in order to secure employment as management, scheduling, or project monitoring and control managers, either in the private or in the public sector. Specifically, the graduates schedule the resources required for the successful execution of a project, by setting feasible objectives, applying modern scientific methods and practices in the management of a project, with the purpose of ensuring the effective management and achievement of the objectives set, and are capable of taking decisions that refer to the distribution and allocation of the resources used during a project, with the purpose of achieving the best possible distribution and utilisation thereof, acquire the knowledge to develop and operate mechanisms and procedures for controlling the course of projects, and are capable of utilising and applying new information and management technologies, with regard to issues concerning the administration and management of projects and operations, while acquiring the necessary knowledge for the preparation of project management studies.

Further Information

Upon completing their studies, the graduates acquire the necessary, as per the international standards, theoretical and technological knowledge and skills, in order to successfully proceed with the following: a) pursue Postgraduate Studies in Tertiary Educational Institutions domestically or abroad, b) follow, based on the background of their studies, the fast developments, both theoretical and technological, in their cognitive subject, and c) work in every aspect of the subject of the Department, either as freelancers or as managers or executives in relevant or public businesses, organisations, and agencies.

Relation To Employment

The vocational rights of the graduates of the departments of Business Administration have been established by Presidential Decree 514/89 (Government Gazette 218/bulletin A/5.10.89) through the application of the clauses of par. 2c', article 25 of the law establishing the Technological Educational Institutes 1404/83 (Government Gazette 173/bulletin Α/24-11-1983). Supplementary rights have been established in accordance with the clauses of Law 2515/97 "Exercise of the Profession of Accountant - Tax Technician" (Government Gazette 154/bulletin A/25-7-97) and Presidential Decree 340/98 "About the profession of the Accountant - Tax Technician and their practice license" (Government Gazette 228/bulletin A/6-10-98) as amended by the clauses of article 13 of Law 2771/99 (Government Gazette 280/bulletin Α/16-12-99) and of article 17 of law 3470/2006 (Government Gazette 132/bulletin Α/28-6-2006), under which the graduates are entitled to obtain the practice license for the profession of Accountant - Tax Technician. Specifically, the graduates of the Department with direction Project Management work in the private or public sector, in similar work positions: - As project managers. - As executives of consulting services. - As executives of technical companies and IT companies. - As executives of companies and organisations engaged with the design and implementation of projects financed by the European Union. These employment positions are created in branches and fields of the Greek economy (in the secondary and tertiary field), such as: technical companies, firms of certified engineers, companies conducting IT projects, consulting companies, Local Government Organisations, prefectural local governments, secretariats of peripheries, management authorities for the implementation of programmes co-funded by the EU and the Greek State, etc.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
