Studying in the direction of Graphic Arts Technology completely covers the cognitive fields related to the science and modern technologies of Graphic Arts, Publications, Printing, Printing and Packaging. The curriculum supports all processes for designing, administering, and managing works of graphic arts, and in general all kinds of printed and electronic media in visual communication. The graduates of the Graphic Arts Technology are Technologists - Engineers in the broader discipline of object design, administration, management and production of printed and visual media, printing and graphic arts. In particular, the graduates of Graphic Arts Technology, based on specialized scientific, technological and technical knowledge, are engaged, in the private and public sectors, either independently or in collaboration with other scientists, in the study, research and application of technology in modern and specialized areas of Graphic Arts. They are engaged in studies to establish units relevant to the graphic arts, the organization and operation thereof, and the control of production. Furthermore, they work by editing and producing all kinds of documents and in all separate relevant works, in pre-printing, in printing of documents by employing any technological printing process (Offset, Gravure, Flexo, textile printing, digital printing), in bookbinding - industrial and artistic, in box manufacturing and generally are engaged in all the packing methods with emphasis on holistic design, management and production of packaging.
The Technologists of Graphic Arts work on feasibility studies for the establishment, operation, construction or expansion of graphic arts units and the establishment, and operation of stores selling materials, products of graphics arts, and related equipment. Additionally their field includes the operation of all kinds of special workshops or special businesses relating to the technology of graphic arts, as publishing consultants, as safety technicians and engineers for quality control systems of production processes, products and materials used in graphic arts.
Finally, they deal with research and development in collaboration with other disciplines for the construction and implementation of machinery, collaborative parts, software, materials and graphic arts equipment.

Studies in the direction Technology of Graphic Arts fully cover the cognitive fields related to the science and modern technologies of Graphic Arts, Publishing, Printing, Typography, and Packaging. The curriculum supports the integrated teaching of general and specialised courses and background courses which include the technology of materials for graphical arts, for printing subcoats, for inks and coats, informatics, physics, chemistry and mathematics, graphical arts technology courses, pre-printing, printing, completion, management and development of multimedia applications, book binding, box making, and packaging. It also supports the development, preparation, management and application of quality control projects, of special ISO specifications (for instance, ISO-12647), designs for the installation of units and businesses of graphic arts, design, organisation, and programming of production, safety and sustainable development with regard to graphical arts, through the respective courses of the curriculum.

Relation To Employment

Holders of qualifications that belong to this type may work either as self-employed or in positions of responsibility in companies and organizations in the private or in the public sector.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
