Upon completing their undergraduate studies, the graduates of the Department of Early Childhood Care and Education acquire the necessary scientific knowledge, competences, and skills about the daily education and care, as well as about the spherical development of infants and pre-schoolers.

Further Information

The basic purpose of the Department of Early Childhood Care is the acquisition of the necessary scientific knowledge, competences, and skills for the spherical development of young children. The Department aims for the best possible achievement of the following objectives:
- education of students with the specialised knowledge to cover the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of the infant and early childhood age;
- understand the effect of suitable development practices on the development of infants and pre-schoolers;
- provision of services for the application of early preventive programmes aiming to the spherical development and research on issues concerning the development, training, and education of pre-schoolers.

The courses of this educational opportunity refer to the following:
- design, organisation, and operation of Early Childhood Centres;
- education and care of pre-schoolers between 2 months of age until their registration in the Elementary School;
- teaching and application of Early Childhood Care.

Relation To Employment

The graduate of the Department of Early Childhood Care and Education is entitled to work as an Early Childhood Care Provider or Preschool Teacher.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
