Μaster's Degree (M.Sc.) in "Renewable Energy Systems". Pathways: a) Solar, thermal , photovoltaic and wind systems, b) Intelligent Zero Energy Buildings, Energy Buildings and Passive Solar Buildings. Department of Mechanical Engineering. Faculty of Applied Technology. Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Western Greece.

Description

The graduates of the Postgraduate Studies Programme titled "Renewable Energy Systems" have the following quality knowledge, competences, and skills at an international level on these fields:
Solar Energy, Photovoltaic Systems, Wind Energy, Biomass, and Hybrid Energy, in order to analyse data of the energy potential over Renewable Energy Sources, design RES systems using innovative aspects in order to cover the energy loads and develop, install, evaluate RES projects, improve, and supervise the operation thereof, while effectively dealing with any problems, and combining the knowledge on RES with the knowledge on the science of Materials, Nanotechnology, and on ICT for new completive products.
The graduates are also capable of designing the construction of Smart Energy Buildings and Zero Energy Buildings, by including RES technologies in the shell of the building, so that that the buildings, both individually and as communities, be converted to sustainable buildings and clean producers of energy, in a clean environment.

Further Information

The purpose of the Postgraduate Studies Programme is the provision of quality knowledge to students, with the purpose of creating scientists capable of copying with the increased demands of their field.

The Programme includes teaching faculty from the following Departments: Mechanical Engineering of Technological Education (TE), Electrical Engineering (TE), Civil Engineering (TE) from the Technological Educational Institute of West Greece, as well as from the Universities of Prague, Brasov, Bari and FH Aahen, based on an agreement concluded within the ERASMUS context.

Relation To Employment

The Postgraduate Studies Programme "Renewable Energy Systems" is considered necessary for every certified person or graduate interested in offering services of technical / professional level for the use of RES, the optimum use thereof, and the design and development of innovative RES application, including Smart Energy Buildings.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who hold a Bachelor Degree (level 6). The selection of graduate students is mainly based on the following criteria: the overall grade of the Bachelor Degree, the grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant with the subjects of the Master’s program, the performance in thesis, where is foreseen at the undergraduate level and any research activity of the candidate. The detailed application of the above mentioned criteria, the definition of additional criteria or the conducting of examinations and interviews, the results of which are taken into account in the selection, are determined by decision of the relevant Department.
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 8.
