Description

The holder of an EPAS certificate of this specialty:
Knowledge:

1. Knows basic concepts related to the "maintenance and preservation of historical memory."
2. Identifies the materials and manufacture techniques of pieces of art and of archaeological finds.
3. Knows the use of tools and the operation of equipment in maintenance workshops.
4. Recognizes the importance of each monument and sets its rescue in the correct frame.
5. Recognizes the extent and causes of deterioration of objects for maintenance.
Skills:
1. Designs and captures objects to be maintained.
2. Uses tools and handles equipment of maintenance workshops.
3. Understands the extent and causes of deterioration of objects.
4. Applies the first rescue interventions to treat damage to art objects.
5. Applies workmanlike ways and methods for maintenance and aesthetic restoration.
6. Applies maintenance methods in art made from stone, ceramic, glass, metal, paper, icons, oil paintings, murals, mosaics, wood carvings, folk art, icons, oil paintings etc.
7. Applies maintenance methods in paintings, in mosaics, in paper and fabric.
8. Manufactures portable paintings and casts and know the properties of the materials thereof.
9. Takes steps to protect, display and store cultural heritage objects.
10. Uses digital cameras to record the stages of the work and the final result thereof with the appropriate lighting and process the photos with digital means.
11. Applies maintenance methods in art from stone, ceramic, glass, metal, paper, icons, oil paintings, murals, mosaics, wood carvings, folk art, icons, oil paintings etc.
Competences:
1. Understands the interdisciplinary approach for solving issues in the field of maintenance - restoration aesthetics of works of art and collaborates with all stakeholders, so that the result meets the maintenance principles and the governing aesthetics rules.
2. Stays abreast in his profession, regulations and trends in the labour market.

Transitions

Access to EPAS is given to graduates of 1st grade of General Upper Secondary School (Lykeio) or Vocational Upper Secondary School (EPAL).
The holders of Ptychio EPAS have access to:
- the 2nd grade of General Upper Secondary School (Lykeio) or
- the 2nd grade of Vocational Upper Secondary School (EPAL), in a non-related specialty to the obtained EPAS qualification.
- the 3rd grade of Vocational Upper Secondary School (EPAL), in a specialty related to the obtained EPAS qualification.
