VOCATIONAL SCHOOL (EPAS) CERTIFICATE (PTYCHIO EPAS) - Specialty "Agricultural Machines"

Description

The holder of an EPAS certificate of this specialty:
Knowledge:

1. Identifies and describes the parts that comprise the engine of the agricultural tractor, the role of each part, the operation of the engine's systems, and of the remaining systems of the tractor.
2. Describes the various stages for preparing the soil to be cultivated.
3. Identifies the seed and describes the stages of germination and the growth stages of crops.
4. Identifies and describes agricultural machinery used for soil preparation, crop care, treatments and harvesting and plant cultivation stages.
5. Calculates the fertilisation and water needs of different crops, the quantity and frequency of irrigation.
6. Recognizes and describes the main types of irrigation pumps and the other required irrigation equipment.
7. Identifies and describes the equipment of agricultural plant in a farm or industry.
8. Recognizes the right tools for the maintenance, repair of agricultural machinery, and also for agricultural structures in a farm.
Skills:
1. Disassembles and assembles the engine correctly, times and regulates the operation of the systems as well as maintain and repair the engine and other systems of the tractor.
2. Handles appropriate agricultural machinery in the field depending on the growth of crop.
3. Sets, maintains and repairs the tractor with all accessories or towed agricultural machines in the field and the crop harvesting machinery.
4. Sets, maintains and repairs the main types of irrigation pumps and other irrigation equipment and implements appropriate crop irrigation methods, depending on the specificity of culture.
5. Operates the right tools for the maintenance, repair of agricultural machinery, and also for agricultural structures in a farm.
6. Maintains and repairs equipment of agricultural facilities of an agricultural holding.
7. Procures appropriate materials and executes rural construction work.
8. Receives, sorts and records the tax documents in the books provided by tax law and fills in the necessary documents and forms.
Competences:
1. Follows his task program, performs it supervised, ensuring the implementation of timelines that have been set by his superiors and cooperates with other technicians in the performance of his duties.
2. Works independently taking responsibility for completion of his work.
3. Develops core communication competencies.
4. Applies the basic rules of health and safety.

Transitions

Access to EPAS is given to graduates of 1st grade of General Upper Secondary School (Lykeio) or Vocational Upper Secondary School (EPAL).
The holders of Ptychio EPAS have access to:
- the 2nd grade of General Upper Secondary School (Lykeio) or
- the 2nd grade of Vocational Upper Secondary School (EPAL), in a non-related specialty to the obtained EPAS qualification.
- the 3rd grade of Vocational Upper Secondary School (EPAL), in a specialty related to the obtained EPAS qualification.
