Description

Upon completing their studies, the graduate Musical Technology and Acoustics Engineers shall have obtained the knowledge and skills in order to be able to work on their own or in collaboration with other scientists in the design, research, and application of modern technology in music, in the production and management of musical sound, as well as in the fields of musical instruments technology, and in the science and technology of acoustics. In accordance with the Presidential Decree on Vocational Rights (P.D. 141/2003), graduates can work in any area where it is necessary to use musical technology and specifically in areas that are very demanding and competitive, such as record production, advertising, radio and TV, theatre and cinema, and the production of musical plays and concerts. These fields offer a wide range of activities and professional choices, since all modern musical productions make extensive use of electronic musical technology. Specifically, the graduates of the Department are employed in the following: In the field of Musical Technology: Design and implementation of mixed modules of physical and digital instruments, with or without a MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) for concerts and recordings. Design, organization and management of electronic music and sound, including the relevant database. Production of musical selections using ready musical materials. Production of mixes of sound materials for musical use, using a combination of sound produced by digital musical instruments and sound of physical musical instruments with composer or producer specifications. Design and preparation of a production with needs of audio reproduction for musical use in concerts and plays. Design and preparation of production with needs for sound reproduction. Technical conduct of works for the arrangement of transmission and the acquisition of royalties to use complete or parts of musical materials. Production of mixes of sound environment and music for performing arts.

The subject of the Department of Music Technology and Acoustics is the application of modern technology in the registration, analysis, synthesis, production and management of sound and music information, as well as the science and technology of acoustics. Relation To Employment

Holders of qualifications that belong to this type may work either as self-employed or in positions of responsibility in companies and organizations in the private or in the public sector.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
