Description

Upon the successful completion of the programme, the students: (a) will have acquired the basic scientific, theoretical and practical knowledge on the speciality of Educator Civil Engineer and Civil Engineer of Technological Education and of the relevant profession, in accordance with the clauses of Article 29 of Law 4186/2013 (Government Gazette 193/Bulletin 1/17.09.2013); (b) shall be capable of applying the theoretical and practical knowledge about the speciality acquired during their studies; (c) will have acquired the required knowledge and competences to continue their studies at a postgraduate level.

The cognitive subject of the educational opportunity covers the design, the study, and the construction of structural projects, such as: buildings for any use (structures, industrial and tourism buildings), bridges and special structures made of reinforced concrete, structural steel and wood, as well as projects for land transports (roadworks, of traffic and railway technique), structures made of concrete and relevant geotechnical projects (foundations for buildings, retaining walls, bridge abutments), port projects (scaffolds, docks), torrent direction projects (through embankments, gabions), irrigation projects, water supply projects, civil hydraulic works, and waste water treatment works. In addition, it covers the cognitive subject of preparing the relevant financial and technical studies, and the studies for the organisation of the worksite and the evaluation of the procedure for the production of the infrastructure works. The purpose of the educational opportunity is to promote, develop, and disseminate knowledge on the above cognitive subject, through teaching and the applied research developed, offering students with the necessary assets to undergo proper training for their scientific and vocational career and development. Upon completing their studies, the graduates shall have the necessary scientific and technological knowledge, competences, and skills in order to engage professionally in every field of the cognitive subject of the educational opportunity, while being capable of working as educators in the secondary technological education. The degree shall bear both titles: the title of the educator and the title of the professional specialty, with a single grade. The degree is granted following studying for ten academic semesters, which include a semester for a dissertation and practical training in the specialty. The curriculum includes courses of General background and M-F-L-H (Management - Finance - Law - Humanitarian Sciences), which are considered essential to begin studying and for the intellectual background of the students, courses of Special Background, offering core knowledge about the subject of their specialty and Specialty Courses that refer to the specialised knowledge required by the specialty of the studies.

Relation To Employment

The degree granted by the Departments of the School of Pedagogical & Technological Education (ASPETE) provides the right to teach the specialty in the secondary education, while consisting a degree of vocational speciality which is equal and respective to the one granted by the Technological Educational Institutions with regard to vocational rights.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
