The objective of the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication is the education of new scientists:
- On Information Technologies;
- On Cultural Studies;
- On the applications of Information and Communication Technologies for the production and management of Digital Cultural Content.
Specifically, the objectives of the Department could be summarised as follows:
- Cultivation and promotion of knowledge about culture and cultural inheritance.
- Use of information technologies about issues of culture and cultural management.
- Design, production, management, and dissemination of cultural goods and services, with the purpose of preserving, promoting, and socially exploiting Greek cultural inheritance within the multicultural frame of the European Union and of the international community.
The Programme of Studies includes the following:
- Basic principles on the theory of culture and communication, with regard to the understanding, management, and transmission of the cultural information.
- The basic principles for the preservation and management of the tangible and intangible cultural inheritance.
- Theories of communication and digital media for the implementation of audiovisual works.
- Theories of museology and museum pedagogy for the implementation of applications for museums and relevant cultural organisations.
- Theories and learning models for the design, implementation, and evaluation of learning scenarios and digital applications of educational technology.
- Basic principles for application development.
- Basic principles for designing databases and IT systems.
- Methods and tools for the digital processing of multimedia content.
- Methods and tools for the development of interactive, multimedia applications, internet sites, digital games, 2D and 3D graphics.
- Methods and techniques for the production, direction, and processing of image and audio in audiovisual works.
Relation To Employment
The graduate becomes eligible for appointment for Branch University Education 19 Informatics, Educational Personnel of Secondary Education of the Ministry for Education and Religious Affairs (Presidential Decree 118/1995, Government Gazette 75, bulletin Α΄), as supplemented by the clauses of article 39, par. 2, verse d) of Law 3794/2009 (Government Gazette 156, bulletin Α).
Transitions
Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
