Upon completing their studies, the graduates of the Department of Primary Education acquire the necessary scientific and teaching and general intellectual competences and skills for the knowledge and operation of digital media and technologies, which shall allow them firstly to understand the social function of sciences and of educational mechanisms, and secondly, specify the coordinates of the sciences of education and training, while applying the competences conferred to them. The basic axes of reference are the following: a) literacy in digital Media, e.g. using New Technologies for communication, accessing libraries, archives, b) competence for use, i.e. finding and using aids, producing new pedagogical material with the help of New Technologies, c) formulation of educational interventions, e.g. creating common programmes and work and research plans with colleagues and students in different geographical country areas, d) multi-levelled consideration for the inclusion of digital media, e.g. approach through interdisciplinary methods and spherically complicated problems arising in the field of education, e) interconnection, e.g. communication and collaboration with colleagues from a different linguistic and cultural environment, and f) stochastic consideration: develop critical thinking concerning the educational reality and the knowledge-generating procedures themselves.
