The objectives of the PSP include the training of new researchers, capable for research with the purpose of mapping the social dynamics and balance between centripetal and centrifugal social forces for the social /financial and institutional integration of Europe and the initiation of the student to the interdisciplinary investigation of European societies and of the multiple challenges currently faced by European citizens: political, institutional, financial, cultural, and geopolitical. The PSP hopes to contribute to the cultivation of its subject with the purpose of implementing its core and at the same time original objective, which is the competence of its graduates to combine scientific knowledge of social sciences with the technocratic knowledge of structures, institutions, and procedures characterized by European bodies. This combination allows the wide reflexivity of graduates and their competence to understand and develop cognitive fields and political proposals of special importance with regard to the future of the European society, both concerning the national prospects and the procedure of globalization, the formulation of a common approach framework for the European culture, which shall allow graduates interested in following a professional career in the European institutional bodies to have a wide and deep understanding of the relations and interactions between the national and European administration and the European citizens, as well as the bridging of the gap between the institutional and social approach at the tangible "European territory" level, as well as the study of the EU achievements, which include both institutional practices and social standards.
Relation To Employment
Holders of qualifications that belong to this type may work either as self-employed or in positions of responsibility in companies and organizations in the private or in the public sector.
Transitions
Access to this type of qualification have those who hold a Bachelor Degree (level 6). The selection of graduate students is mainly based on the following criteria: the overall grade of the Bachelor Degree, the grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant with the subjects of the Master’s program, the performance in thesis, where is foreseen at the undergraduate level and any research activity of the candidate. The detailed application of the above mentioned criteria, the definition of additional criteria or the conducting of examinations and interviews, the results of which are taken into account in the selection, are determined by decision of the relevant Department.
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 8.
