Postgraduate students of the programme acquire holistically knowledge about the East Mediterranean during the ancient eras, through all its facets, while at the same time being initiated to the research procedure and to the procedures of participatory research in the context of archaeological theory and on the basis of research methods, which are suggested in the field of antiquarian sciences, and specifically of archaeology. Within this context, postgraduate students participate in field research, in experiential investigations, and in practice training, putting into practice theories, techniques, strategies, and methodological approaches that mainly fall into the research subjects and interests of the Postgraduate Studies Programme. Upon completing the programme, the postgraduate students must have formulated the profile of a modern researcher.
Relation To Employment
The Master's Degree in "Archaeology of Eastern Mediterranean" has a bonus of 200 points in the relevant calls of the branch (Archaeologists with University Education).
Transitions
Access to this type of qualification have those who hold a Bachelor Degree (level 6). The selection of graduate students is mainly based on the following criteria: the overall grade of the Bachelor Degree, the grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant with the subjects of the Master’s program, the performance in thesis, where is foreseen at the undergraduate level and any research activity of the candidate. The detailed application of the above mentioned criteria, the definition of additional criteria or the conducting of examinations and interviews, the results of which are taken into account in the selection, are determined by decision of the relevant Department.
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 8.
