The Department of Mechanical Engineering aims to the cultivation and advancement of education, scientific research and knowledge on the basic subjects of the mechanical engineer.
Engineering covers a wider spectrum of fields, such as energy, the environment, science and material technology, design of machines, and systems controlling technological systems. The activities of the mechanical engineer include, among others, research and development, the design, the tests, and the production of products and systems, the organization of production, and the management of businesses.
During the five-year tuition in the Department, the learner acquires thorough background knowledge and the basic principles on the field of Mechanical Engineering. The Curriculum follows international standards and in the First three-year cycle of studies it offers all necessary background knowledge, while in the Second and Third cycle of studies, specialised knowledge are offered on applied subjects, focused on constructions, energy, and industrial management. The learner acquires competences for the critical treatment of problems, the analysis and design of structures, arrangements, processes, and the organization of productive units. They learn how to use specific methods for resolving problems and designing in applied problems and studies, by making use of fully modern software for engineers, experimental methods, and analytical tools.
