Description

Following the completion of the postgraduate studies programme, the graduates are expected to: a. Knowledge: Understand sufficiently the basic methodologies and epistemological approaches to the subjects of History, Local History and of their didactics, and be capable of critically reviewing them in relation to social and cultural theories.
b. Skills: Produce scientific knowledge and research on the subjects of History and Local History and undertake the design, the organization of teaching seminars on history, applying the modern approaches of the education sciences.
c. Competences: Work independently and effectively within research groups and educational frameworks of formal and informal learning.

Further Information

The subject of the Programme is postgraduate specialisation on issues of Modern History and Local History, with emphasis on issues related to research and didactics for the specific scientific fields. The objective purpose of the PSP is the generation of scientists and researchers of increased specialisation, capable of improving history research and contributing to the development and application of methods and teaching techniques by using modern methods of didactics, covering the research scope of Modern and Local History. The basic objectives of the programme is the advancement of scientific knowledge and research on the field of Modern History and Local History, the compatibility of the postgraduate knowledge provided with international developments in the research of history and local history and with the sciences of education (issues concerning the didactics of History and of local history, pedagogical proficiency), and the generation of executives in the field of historical research with competitive training and application possibilities both in the Greek and in the unified European labour market. Relation To Employment

The title of studies provides the Certificate of Pedagogical and Didactic Proficiency.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who hold a Bachelor Degree (level 6). The selection of graduate students is mainly based on the following criteria: the overall grade of the Bachelor Degree, the grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant with the subjects of the Master’s program, the performance in thesis, where is foreseen at the undergraduate level and any research activity of the candidate. The detailed application of the above mentioned criteria, the definition of additional criteria or the conducting of examinations and interviews, the results of which are taken into account in the selection, are determined by decision of the relevant Department.
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 8.
