Description

Upon completion of the study programme, the graduate:
- Has advanced theoretical and factual knowledge in the field of Electronics and its applications, involving a critical understanding of theories and principles.
- Holds advanced cognitive and practical skills and is able to demonstrate the required skill and innovation to solve complex and unpredictable problems in specialized fields of (analog and digital) electronics, industrial automation, telecommunications, information technology and PC networks.
-Has the necessary responsibility and autonomy to manage complex technical or professional activities or projects, taking responsibility for decision-making in unpredictable work environments or for studying Electronics and above specific fields of application, as well as taking responsibility for managing professional development of individuals and groups in those areas.

Further Information

The programme aims is in principle to provide modern and high-level education in the field of Electronics and its applications, through undergraduate studies based both on theoretical teaching and on practical laboratory exercise. In addition to providing a solid base of technical knowledge in the subject and cultivating methodical thinking and troubleshooting, the curriculum aims to the multifaceted development and integration of the personality of students, and the development of their professional conscience.
Moreover, the program aims to an organized interface and interaction with plants and / or service units in the subject and relevant professional bodies, with the aim of continuous improvement of the curriculum and lifelong learning, to ensure the position of graduates in modern labour market. In this context, emphasis is given to the preparation of the European professional prospects of graduates through educational exchange programs (ECTS system) and partnerships.

Course Content:
The Course Content of the Department’s Undergraduate Studies Program, as published in Official Gazette 537 | 28-4-2006, covers the subject of Electronics and its applications in devices and systems of any kind that contain electronic components. Examples include the fields of electronics, telecommunications, industrial electronics and automation, IT and PC networks.

Description of the graduate:
Upon completion of the program, the graduate has the knowledge and practical experience to be able to successfully operate in the disciplines taught:
• Analog / digital electronic components, devices, systems and measuring instruments.
• Telecommunications in general (wired and wireless, microwave-mobile-satellite-optical) and digital data communication.
• Power Electronics, Industrial electronics and automation, Automatic Control Systems, Mechatronic Systems.
• Audiovisual systems and installations, Radio and Television, Audio and Video Processing / Multimedia.
• Computer technology, computer networks, Internet and IT services, Telematics Applications.
• Sensors, measurement and data collection systems, Digital data processing.
• Microelectronics, Integrated Circuits and Hardware Structures.
• Biomedical electronics, biomedical technology and biomedical signal processing.
• Protection and Fire Safety Systems, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Quality Assurance Systems.
• Electronic ambient technology systems, Electronic renewable energy systems.
The thesis (compulsory) has a study-based, development-based or applied research nature and is prepared by the student, either individually or jointly in the context of a two-member group. It ensures deepening of seniors in a serious and topical issue of applied research in the specialty of their studies and give them the possibility to acquire important experiences from the comprehensive and in-depth study of a particular topic and to develop synthetic abilities.
Apprenticeship (mandatory) lasts six (6) calendar months and is performed in selected companies, production units or service providers in the public and private sector which are active in related subjects. Exercise is guided and assessed. It provides students the opportunity to work in a real working environment, participating in the activities of the host, under the guidance and supervision of its staff. It also educates students in teamwork, cooperation with other professionals for the joint preparation of a given project, and to develop their personal skills through collaborative processes.

Relation To Employment

The graduate of the department has the right to exercise the profession of Electronic Engineering Technologist with the professional rights detailed in Presidential Decree 346 / Official Gazette 158 Α / 14-06-1989.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
