After completion of the programme, students have the specialized knowledge and practical experience to be successfully able either to operate independently or to be employed as accountant in business or in the financial industry. They also can, according to Law 3912/2011, be registered as members of the Economic Chamber of Greece.

The graduate has the following:

• Analyses financial statements.
• Describes techniques of financial accounting.
• Formulates principles of financial accounting and implementation issues of accounting standards.
Prepares and analyses accounting reports.
• Analyses qualitative and quantitative data of accounting information.
• Describes, distinguishes and explores costing methods.
• Formulates, describes and analyses issues of adjustment of fixed assets and amortization of labour and commercial law and of assessment, analysis and management of investment, capital analysis, financial markets, specific budgetary issues, specific accounting profession ethics issues, accounting theory and theory of accounting thinking, financial theory and modern theories of financial analysis, use of computer systems of quantitative analysis and aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
• Analyses issues of internal control and corporate governance, special issues of adjustment of fixed assets and amortization, special issues of labour, commercial law and labour relations, and of financial management of enterprises.
• Analyses auditing issues.
• Formulates, investigates and analyses issues related to accounting theory and research, as well as financial theory and research, depending on the direction chosen.

• Prepares and manages accounts and budgets.
• Prepares financial analysis.
• Manages tax issues.
• Keeps accounting records of all categories.
• Uses costing methods.
• Manages financial data of businesses.
• Applies rational and efficient financial management techniques.
• Conducts research on the subject of accounting and finance.
• Manages effectively enterprises’ stocks and funds and effectively applies the IAS and GAS to draft business accounting situations.
• Controls tax and financial data of enterprises by applying modern methods of auditing, both in tax audit issues, and in internal and external audit issues.

• Performs budgets, implements methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis research in accounting and finance.
• Uses and applies costing methods.
• Supports large firms in terms of accounting.
• Provides advice on market accounting issues.
• Assesses enterprises.
• Collaborates in research and professional level with other accountants and financial analysts.
• Meets and covers the modern market requirements to the profession of accountant and financial analyst.

Further Information

The objective of the Program is postgraduate education of graduates of Accounting and Finance and of graduates of Higher Education Institutions (Greek and foreign) for the treatment of increased professional demands of the labour market, but also deepening in these areas on a theoretical level. The purpose of the program is to train students in Accounting and Finance Research and scientific approach to solve operational problems that are a key objective of this postgraduate program.

In particular, the direction "Finance" will enrich and broaden their knowledge in financial analysis of business, while specializing in "Accounting" will increase the qualifications of students to obtain professional licenses.

Relation To Employment

Holders of qualifications that belong to this type may work either as self-employed or in positions of responsibility in companies and organizations in the private or in the public sector.


Access to this type of qualification have those who hold a Bachelor Degree (level 6). The selection of graduate students is mainly based on the following criteria: the overall grade of the Bachelor Degree, the grades in undergraduate courses that are relevant with the subjects of the Master’s program, the performance in thesis, where is foreseen at the undergraduate level and any research activity of the candidate. The detailed application of the above mentioned criteria, the definition of additional criteria or the conducting of examinations and interviews, the results of which are taken into account in the selection, are determined by decision of the relevant Department.
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 8.
