Description

Upon completion of his/her studies, the Department's graduate, graduate Electronic Engineer of Technological Education, has the specialized knowledge and practical experience to successfully work either independently or in collaboration with other scientists in the design, research and application of technology on modern and specific areas of Electronics and in particular the following fields:

1. Analog / digital electronic components, devices, systems and measuring instrumentation,
2. Telecommunications in general (wired and wireless, microwave - mobile - satellite - optical) and digital data communication.
3. Power Electronics, Industrial electronics and automations, Automatic Control Systems, mechatronic systems.
3. Audiovisual systems and installations, Radio and Television, Editing Audio & Visual / Multimedia.
5. Computer Technology, Networks Computer systems, Internet and IT services, Telematics.
6. Electromechanical devices, microsystems technology.
7. Microcontrollers, microprocessors, embedded systems.
8. Sensors, measurement and data collection systems, Digital data processing.
9. Microelectronics, Integrated Circuits and Hardware Structures.
10. Protection and fire safety systems, electromagnetic compatibility, quality assurance systems.

With regard to the above and the relevant fields, the Department's graduate will be able to undertake responsibility the following:
i. Study, design, development, production, installation of respective systems, devices or equipment,
ii. Handling, control, supervision, maintenance and repair of equipment.
iii. Organization and supervision of production, assembly or manufacturing.
iv. Preparation of technical / financial studies, feasibility and suitability studies and expert opinions.
v. Certification, quality control and electromechanical compatibility of equipment and installations.
vi. Establishment, organization and management of businesses.
vii. Provision of technical and consulting services.
viii. Design and implementation of technological research programs for the promotion of science and technology.

Further Information

The Department of Electronic Engineers of Technical Education aims to promote, develop, and pass suitable knowledge, in the field of Science and Technology of Electronics, both through teaching and research, so the students can obtain the maximum possible scientific and professional training in the cognitive subject of the Department. The continuous and rapid development and expansion of the science of Electronic Engineer necessitates the revision and modification of the education provided, both with regard to the content of the subjects taught, and the forms of teaching. Since 1994, interventions take place every four years, on average, to the curriculum, in order to satisfy the modern requirements of the labour market and the specialized or new knowledge necessary for graduates, due to the rapid development of the Technology of Electronics and Communication Systems.
The content of studies of the Department covers the cognitive subject of Electronics and the application thereof in the field of Telecommunications, Industrial Automations, Informatics, and of its services, mainly at hardware level.
The Electronics Department offers the basic knowledge of the science of Electronics in combination with a theoretical and practical education about its current fields. The purpose of the department is to create graduates who shall professionally engage with every modern cognitive subjects related to the design, study, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of electronic systems and modules.

Relation To Employment

The graduate of the department is called "Graduate Electronic Engineer of Technological Education". The professional rights of the graduates of the Electronics Department are set out in Presidential Decree no. 346, Article 1 (Government Gazette 158-14/06/1989, first bulletin).

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
