The graduate of the Department of Physiotherapy, from Athens Technical Educational Institute acquires:
KNOWLEDGE: The graduate acquires the knowledge necessary for the application of appropriate and research-backed scientific methods, techniques and instruments for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries, diseases and disorders, both congenital and acquired, which cause disturbances in the functioning of skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular system, etc.
SKILLS: The graduate has skills for understanding, through physiotherapeutic evaluation, the therapeutic sequences necessary for organizing the treatment protocol used for addressing the above pathologies. Training in Physiotherapy Department leads to the creation of responsible employees, capable to implement concrete scientific directions of the curriculum in the field of Public Health.
COMPETENCES: The graduate is able to apply safely, responsibly and effectively the treatments and techniques taught in both theoretical and practical levels. Emphasis is placed on working with educational and medical institutions in Greece and abroad, for the exchange of information and knowledge through the conduct of joint training and research programs.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Upon completion of the undergraduate course of study, graduates of the Department of Physiotherapy have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to choose approaches, design, and deal safely and effectively with pathological and functional problems in a variety of organic systems.

Further Information

The basic purpose of the programme is to provide suitable and comprehensive theoretical, practical, and clinical education, in order to allow graduates of the Department to make a scientifically informed choice and apply the methods, techniques, and media of physical therapy. The cognitive subject of the Physical Therapy Department refers to the evaluation and treatment, through physical therapy, of injuries, conditions, and dysfunctions, congenital and acquired, which affect the operation of the skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory and cardiovascular system. In addition, educational procedures are organized, which aim to the constantly updating perception of the therapeutic approach in new science fields, such as Mental Health, Gynaecology, Oncology, Custom Motor Activity, Urology, and Geriatrics.

Relation To Employment

The Degree of Physiotherapy Department is required to exercise the profession of Physiotherapist.

Transitions

Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
