KNOWLEDGE
- The graduates of the PSP have specialised knowledge of theoretical and practical orientation, that relate to the environment and sustainable development in the context of modern learning theories, as well as of pedagogical and educational views.
- They have a systematic perception of the environment, through the lens of its natural, financial, social, and cultural dimension, while at the same time approaching the basic segments of the educational sciences, in an effort to combine formal, non-formal, informal and lifelong learning with the environment and sustainable development.
- They have advanced and specialised knowledge about the subject of the research in the field of education for the environment and sustainable development, both at a level of theoretical framework and at an application level, with the purpose of recording the existing state of play, the generation of new ideas, the development of innovative educational methods and techniques, the improvement and design of programmes for the education and training of educators and other professional groups of the population, and for the support of pedagogics, Education about the Environment, and Sustainable Development.
SKILLS
- The graduates of the PSP can apply with ease and evaluate educational and communication programmes about the environment and sustainable development, within the context of the formal, non-formal, and informal education, and based on the promotion of intergenerational communication and interaction, which reflects and refers to every field of the social and professional life.
- They apply environmentally friendly principles, perceptions and practices to the educational system, to social groups, to social, financial, cultural, and political institutions, as well as to bodies engaged with the development design and the taking of decisions.
- They are capable of designing, applying, and evaluating educational methods, teaching techniques, and methodological approaches for the integration of the environmental aspects and of the issues of sustainable development for the design of various policies.
COMPETENCES
- The graduates of the PSP are capable of manning educational institutes and organisations, agencies, and bodies of the public and private sector, through which it is possible to promote innovative educational models, in order to increase knowledge, skills, and the strategies for the dissemination of sustainable development, along with the rational management and protection of the environment for educators and other groups of professionals.
- They design, manage, and implement research work in the field of education sciences with regard to the environment and sustainable development, while making use of and effectively applying the findings of their research to education and to the workplace in general, as well as to society.
- They are capable of undertaking the responsibility for disseminating the results of research in the educational system and in the bodies participating in the formulation, taking, application, and control of decisions for the protection of the natural, anthropogenic, and cultural environment, and for the promotion of sustainable development, through their participation in research programmes implemented by research institutions and other bodies in Greece and abroad, engaging with Environmental and Sustainable Development Education.
