The purpose is the advancement and dissemination of knowledge, through research and teaching, in the scientific domains of International and European Economics, of Political Science, Foreign Policy and Diplomacy, comparative social institutions, European institutions, and generally of International Organisations, along with the training of executives with the purpose of covering specialized needs of the country, and specifically in order to work in the agencies of the European Union. In order to implement the above learning pursuits, an extensive curriculum is offered, with the purpose of providing learners with an overall view of the international political and financial state of play, along with the necessary tools that shall enable them to cope with modern labour and cognitive requirements. The curriculum has a general direction that is common for everyone in the first five semesters, and specialised during the three last semesters in two directions, where the student must select one. The general teaching subjects refer to the theory and various themes of international relations, economic and political science and theory, along with mathematics, statistics, informatics, and foreign languages.
Relation To Employment
The degree is necessary to work as an economist, in accordance with the relevant clauses of the Greek Chamber of Economy (with regard to the graduates of the department with direction of International and European Financial Studies), as an educator (depending on the direction, for the specialisation of economists or legal / political scientists), as well as in order to be work in a post requiring university education by the public sector. In addition, they may also find work in various posts in the private sector, in EU agencies, and in international organisations.
Transitions
Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
