Further Information
Upon completing their studies, the graduates of the Department of Accounting and Finance acquire the necessary, as per the international standards, theoretical and technological knowledge and skills, in order to successfully proceed with the following:
i) Keep accounting books and issue the tax details of all categories of the Code of Books and Figures, based on the Greek General Chart of Accounts and the International Financial Reporting Standards.
ii) Prepare and analyse the financial statements of businesses.
iii) Draft budgets and reports and analyse the results based on the deviations.
iv) Apply the principles and methods of costing.
v) Operate and apply modern Accounting IT systems.
vi) Draft financial studies and provide specialised financial advice.
vii) Undertake the conduct of tax and insurance obligations for the businesses.
viii) Proceed to an internal and external control of businesses.
ix) Provide advice for accounting, administrative, and labour issues.
x) Prepare financial studies, and
xi) Understand, monitor and be aware of the financial developments and credit procedures.
Relation To Employment
The degree in Accounting and Finance is one of the degrees necessary to work in financial services and accounting departments for businesses of the private and public sector, accounting companies and large financial and credit organisations, such as commercial and investing banks, securities firms, investing, and insurance companies.
Transitions
Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
